Power, Abuse and Violence Screening Training

As a result of recent changes to Ontario's Arbitration Act, all family arbitrators must take 14 hours of training in screening for violence and power imbalances, effective April 2008.

This requirement applies both to lawyer-arbitrators and non-lawyer arbitrators such as parenting coordinators.

For more information on these requirements, please visit the website of the Ontario Attorney General, www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/family/arbitration/.

As an Accredited Family Mediator, Hilary has substantial training in this area and has year of experience with screening for power imbalances, abuse and violence in mediation.

She provides the requisite 14 hour training to lawyers, parenting coordinators and other arbitrators at both the introductory and advanced levels. See the attached flyer for more details about these courses.
