Basic Family Law (30 Hours)
(REQUIRED for non-lawyers taking Basic Family Negotiation and Mediation )
A solid, understandable and engaging overview of Ontario family law, this course is for mental health professionals, paralegals, educators and others who wish to know the basics of family law. It is designed to provide family law training required by the Ontario’s Attorney General for parenting coordinators and family arbitrators who are not lawyers. Power Imbalances in Family Law Cases (14 Hours)
(Pre-requisite for Basic Family Negotiation and Mediation)
A two-day course for collaborative and family lawyers, mediators, parenting coordinators, paralegals, educators and mental health professionals seeking to know more about the elements of power in intimate relationships. This dynamic and practical workshop uses professional actors and features skilled and knowledgeable guest speakers. Meets the requirements of OAFM and ADRIO for family mediator accreditation, and also Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General for family arbitration. This program has been accredited by the Law Society for 3.5 Professionalism Hours.

Update on Power Imbalances in Family Law Cases (10 hours)
(Required every two years for family arbitrators and parenting coordinators)
This one-day intensive program is designed to provide the bi-annual training on “screening for power imbalances” in arbitration as required by Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. Featuring dynamic guest speakers and a lively panel discussion.

A comprehensive five-day workshop designed for family and collaborative lawyers, mental health professionals, paralegals and educators. It delivers the essential basics of family negotiation and mediation theory and practice. Delivered by Hilary Linton and Dr. Barbara Fidler along with a panel of esteemed experts in the field. Approved by the Ontario Association of Family Mediation and the ADR Institute of Ontario for accreditation.

Advanced Family Mediation and Negotiation Theory and Skills
