Jared Norton is a Parenting Coordinator and Mediator with Riverdale Mediation. A registered social worker and an accredited family mediator with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation, Jared is also a roster mediator with Mediate393 inc., and an Information and Referral Coordinator. Graduating from the University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work, specializing in Children, Youth, and Families, Jared has worked with youth and family mental health organizations, and is now in private practice providing counselling services. Jared also serves on the clinical panel with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer.
Jared completed his clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, working in four clinical programs including the Adolescent Program and the Better Behaviours Service, as well as in the Family Psychiatry program. Jared has completed extensive additional training in the use of numerous therapeutic models and conflict resolution interventions, as well as in evidence based interventions for working with specific issues such as addictions, concurrent disorders, and childhood behavioural issues. Jared has conducted assessment and treatment services, including Section 34 YCJA assessments for youth in contact with the legal system and for The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C). He has also worked with youth and adolescents in residential mental health care and their families to develop reintegration plans to ensure healthy transitions and long term success.
Jared seeks to help parents to develop co-parenting relationships and interactions which support the best interest of their children. Working with co-parent’s strengths, Jared helps co-parents address potential risk factors and to enhance protective factors within the context of the child’s world.
