An associate at Riverdale Mediation, Jared Norton provides Parenting Coordination and Family mediation services, and is a training facilitator.
Jared is a registered social worker and an accredited family mediator with the Ontario Association for Family Mediation. He is a roster member with mediate393 Inc. in Toronto, and also serves as an Information and Referral Coordinator.
Jared specializes in working with children and families, and has practiced in a range of clinical settings including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Frontenac Youth Services, and the Distress Centre of Toronto. He currently operates a private clinical practice, Empowerment Practices, and provides therapeutic services, as well as assessment and voice of the child reports. Jared also serves as a clinical panel member with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, and has provided Section 34 YCJA assessments for youth in contact with the legal system, assessments for The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C), as well as mental health and addiction related assessments and treatment for adults.
Jared’s work focuses on assisting high conflict families in creating parenting plans and developing a better way of co-parenting. As a mediator, he also mediates parent-child and parent-adult child relational issues, and other family related disputes. Jared engages clients in an educational and collaborative process which facilitates individual and relational change. His patient yet direct approach, and his ability to address sensitive issues, is effective in reducing tension and working through conflict to a point of resolution and healing.
