In January we offered four interactive days of instruction to students across Ontario using live webcast technology. Students avoided the time and expense of travel to Toronto, accommodations and eating out for four days. They loved that they could take the course from their homes or offices. One of our students had a child at home who fell ill, and but for this format she would have had to withdraw. Another had his dog at his feet the entire course!
It was also great fun for us to use this platform to engage with the group, enabling us all to connect and discuss important issues. We also made great use of the chat feature, which let students ask private questions of us, and also let them connect with each other! It was effective and fun.
For many, the best part of the course was the many great video interviews we use to reinforce the live lectures. Students heard from family law experts such as Phillip Epstein, Nick Bala, Rollie Thompson, Esther Lenkinski, Mary-Jo Maur, and many more. Students could watch and replay the videos at their own speed, and chat with us and each other while doing so.
We loved teaching this course this way and the feedback indicated that the students loved it just as much.
