PRE-REQUISITES:

Previous family mediation training or Family mediation experience (Acc.FM).

 

This 14-Hour course explores the fundamentals of the Parenting Coordination (PC) process through lectures, realistic case studies, case law review, demonstrations, small group discussions and coached role play.

Topics include:

  • Understand the important stages of the PC process
  • Know how to define the PC’s jurisdiction
  • Understand the basic principles of natural justice
  • Differentiate between open and closed PC processes and consider the pros and cons of each
  • Gain knowledge of the key legal decisions about parenting coordination
  • Develop a clear, effective PC contract
  • Learn the options for hearing the child’s voice in the PC process
  • Implement effective techniques to identify, assess and manage power imbalances including family violence in the PC context
  • Learn how the intake process in parenting coordination is different from mediation intake
  • Recognize when and how to screen out inappropriate matters
  • Apply their understanding of high-conflict dynamics to the PC process
  • Identify strategies for effective conflict management
  • Learn different ways to conduct a PC file
  • Develop best practices for managing an email-based or hearing-based practice
  • Avoid alignment with a party through self-check strategies
  • Learn resources and strategies for effective client coaching
  • Improve their writing skills
  • Gain award-writing skills that demonstrate the principles of natural justice
  • Gain an understanding of the principles of costs.
  • Develop strategies to maintain neutrality

How our Courses Work:

START &
END DATES OF COURSES: 

Each course is ‘open’ for roughly a four-week period. During that time, participants will have access to on-demand content for self-directed learning. Learners are required to complete the self-directed modules (including quizzes) before each mandatory-attendance Tutorial Session.
LIVE TUTORIALS: 

 Live online Tutorials are scheduled at regular intervals during the course. Attendance is mandatory (see Training Schedule for dates and times of each). Led by experienced coaches, the Tutorials feature interactive role plays, small group discussion, case study and one-on-one feedback. Participants MUST attend all scheduled tutorials in order to receive their Certificate of Completion.

 

QUIZZES:

Each module of each course includes quizzes. Students must achieve at least a passing grade on all quizzes to advance to the next module or course, and to receive their Certificate of Completion for that course.

 

NOTE: This course is made available to those who pay and register for it only. Only those students who pay and register may attend this course. It is a violation of the contract for training to permit another person to listen or to share course materials with a person who is not registered in the course.
